5 CHACALS PUANTS  > 1988-2010 >>>

Ce blog est centré sur le CP5 crew oblige. Il est aussi question ici du mouvement artistique : Graffiti / Tag / Hip Hop / à Paris et sa Banlieue, depuis les des 80′s à nos jours. Par extension, il en va de soi, il est question de :  montrer, critiquer, colporter et de se questionner sur ce qui se fait ailleurs, en Europe et dans le monde. Relater, commenter, méditer une Histoire de gars et de filles* de quartiers*, qui ce sont inventés une culture, une identité …

* ( de filles aussi, si il y en a, c’est vrai quedans le graffiti pas des masses contrairement au Rap et Dance, mais tout de même, le graffiti trop un truc de chacals puants, tel est la question? )

* quartiers, aux sens large du terme : de la Pierre Collinet, cité de fou perdu au fin des champs de betteraves du 77, aux crew chic du VII arrondissement. Ce qui compte, c’est le style, le niveau de marravage, la pertinence, la bonne onde et aussi souvent la mauvaise…

A quick history of CP5

Around July 1988 somewhere in South East Of Paris Suburb, SECRET (me, myself and I) created the CP.5 crew, CINQ CHACALS PUANTS, or COUSCOUS POULET N°5* (*RECK version). It was my third posse. the TCB was First crew i joined (THE COSMICS BOYZ) created by SHAOLIN ( Zephyr, Kenzo, Toshiba, Chuck, Ely1, Chrome, Quicksilver, Albanz).  Then i created a special one for taggers DCA ( Da Cool Artist) for growing out from the local scene to the Parisian scene >>> kasdedi : QUEEM_LSD, REK DOCK DCA, DAKE_KMA, SCREEN & ZROPE TKV (les gars de Montreuil), AIR (des 3000) à tout les lousdés de l’îlot Chalon KS posse Karai starz > Passage Brunoy, Passage Raguinot  > Mounir, Fessal, Jawad, Ekar…

Franquly at this time i don’t remember why, but… Anyway Due to various influences as : Spray Can Art and others… I was very admirative of the famous NY writers crew: TC5 and I had heard about a substance by reading an press news about James brown as user of PCP; So i blend booth and result was CP5, “CHACALS PUANT 5″. 5 as n°5 the famous fragrance from Coco Chanel. The Jackson Five also is influent, and a very good illustration by Rick griffin “suufer handling a 5″  was also and inspiration. 5 is a magic number, fiver fingers in the hand for catching a spraycan and painting. 5 is the five pillars of  ZULU NATION the 5 Hip Hop disciplines : RAP, GRAFFITIZ, DJ’Z,BREAKDANCE, BEATBOX.

Also at this time it was the climax of Violent gang as Black Dragons, Requins Vicieux, Requins Juniors, Mendhi, Roquets Furieux, Flying Toads, etc.. So as i am a non violent person, my respons was to create a Graffiti artist crew including Vandal activity but with a different icone image, Chacal symbolised to me a smart animal a type of African fox. Never using pure force but social hunting. And stincking as writers we used ink and spraycan, furnitures that stinks GOOD.

Also an another influence was the graffiti wall in the Louvre. At this time, there were in. the construction of the pyramid a activ graffti wall (palisade du louvre), and the 156* made by JON ONE, had realy impressed me. I found the 5 was so cool. So i planed at this time to make a new posse, with a number in the crew acronym. * If anyone have a pictures of this Graffiti piece 156 by JonOne. It will be very kind to send me a copy > armir73@gmail.com

Also this CP5 in french pronunciation provide an alitération, a play of a repetitive sound of the words. This was inspired by the famous phrase of Jean Racine, the asnwer of Oreste to Pylade :

And fortunatly i had 4 new friends involded in graffiti : ALTERN, OPAK, OKE, FATAL(punch), and myself SECRET. The count was good, we were the Five Stinking Chacals, CINQ CHACALS PUANTS. Then I met EAZE at the bastille train station, he became a discret member of CP5 few weeks later and very good friend. Opak and Altern had make a better recruiting writerz and taggerz activity and some of the DCA crew joined this new fresh crew.

The concept was to make growing the posse to others writers that recogniezd themself as Chacals Puants, bad boys from suburb. Few time later, about 1990 winter  the terrible kids from Boissy st Léger : RECK, LEKY, SNEAT, CRUEL, OMEGA, YONEL, YORK > from the FSP ( Fumeur sans pitié)  joined the CP5 crew, with a very strong tagging activity in the RER A ( suburb train line) and PARIS Metropolitan. Those Chacalz had ingniciate and start the lift off sequence of the small basement crew to a Parisian well know posse. Altern invite to join the most activ of allz Memberz >>> KINGSON   > KSON, from Le Havre. At same time join NASTY, POCH, SHUN, OBSEN, IMPACT, SYSTEM.  And After many of others member: YEEMD,COZE, GURS, FAST, and many others. Each one generaly have many posse at same time.

CP5 was very versatil and an heterogenous crew, memberz from originary the whole world all color of skin, all religions.  It’s not allways easy to make collaborate together everybody, but KSON have this rare talent to connect all memberz, Respect. In a way it’s an idea, an identity. CP5 is multicultural (hip hop, tekno, rock), pluriethnic, multiverse, a decentralized “mutant” posse. and more than twenty years later still present and activ; Personaly my favorite significarion actualy is ; CITYZEN PROJECT 5 CONTINENTZ. CP.5
